Have you ever gone to God for next steps on a specific thing?
You prayed.
You waited.
You shared your journey with a friend.
You waited some more.
You prayed some more.
You continued to wait.
You began to feel frustrated.
You may have even cried.
Then, you begin to become unsure if God heard your request or you missed the opportunity where God spoke to you.
You feel stuck and you’re not sure how to get unstuck.
Honestly, for me, this was an example of a specific area in my life.
I did all of the above listed.
Finally, I took another step in faith to once again share all that was in my heart to God and asked Him how I could get past the place of where I was in order to grow closer to Him.
To my surprise, shortly after, I went to church and the sermon was all about fasting!
The minister shared how fasting is a spiritual discipline for believers to get closer to God.
He even extended an invite to the entire congregation for the next 21 Days.
Anyone who would like could participate in the fast together as a church family.
I was desperate.
So, I joined the fast 😃
I moved forward intentionally following diet plans, praying, and reading the Bible.
I even limited time away from social media!
When the fast was complete, I felt closer to God and believed He heard my original request.
What I realized is I just needed intentional time with Him to really hear Him.
Because God did eventually answer my request🙌🏾
Last week I shared ways to get unstuck in the blog post Let’s Get Unstuck .
But, it would be unfair to you if I didn’t share how to get unstuck when you are faced with something bigger than what you expected.
Or, what should you do when you are numbed by your current circumstances due to not hearing from God?
You fast, my friend.
You take time away from distractions and you spend more intentional time with God to give you vision on what to do.
Because to become unstuck sometimes comes by prayer and fasting.
“So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
Mark 9:29 NKJV
In the verse, it is Jesus’ response to His disciples when they are unable to heal a boy who was possessed by an evil spirit.
Today, I want to share with you that same response once again, some things only come by prayer and fasting.
When you are feeling stuck, you may want to remove to make room for God to move.
Honey Bunches, God is always speaking to you.
God is always near to you.
God loves you and wants the best for you.
Starting August 1st, I will make my annual decision to fast for vision from God.
I will be taking time away from distractions to hear from God clearly on specific areas in my life.
